Christian Family Radio's
Help For The Homeless

Christian Family Radio’s 16th Annual Help for the Homeless

Remember as you read this that the Help For The Homeless campaign has ended for this year (2008). This page is to explain what the campaign is all about. If you would like to be a part of the 2009 campaign, e-mail Heidi Prahl.

Christian Family Radio WEMI 91.9 FM Appleton/Oshkosh, WEMY 91.5 FM Green Bay, WFRV TV and Festival Foods Stores invite you to help the homeless in our community.

Help for the Homeless works directly with the homeless coalitions in Brown County, the Fox Valley, Oshkosh, Fond du Lac, and Manitowoc to stock the shelves of at least 30 homeless and crisis programs. Donations may be dropped off at Festival Foods Stores, area Christian book stores, the Christian Family Radio studios, and participating churches, schools and businesses from February 16 – March 13. 2008. Businesses, community organizations, schools, and churches, and are encouraged to participate!

NEW cleaning and personal care items such as laundry/face/body soaps, hair and dental care products, facial and bathroom tissue, diapers, deodorant, first aid items, lip balm etc. are needed.

The purpose of this campaign is to come along side local crisis programs and help stock their supplies. Donations will help them to dedicate their limited financial resources to areas where they’re most effective – providing qualified personnel, safe housing, nutritious food, education, and counseling to those they serve.

If you'd like to help publicize this event, here is a poster for you to download and/or print out:

WFRV Festival Foods

Formerly known as Christian Family Radio’s “Help & Hope”, this campaign has been supplying the toiletry needs of area shelters for 15 years so that their limited resources can be applied where they’re needed most – staffing, housing, education, and food.

In 2002, the Brown County Homeless and Housing Coalition began a similar campaign, known as “March for the Homeless” which coincided with the church calendar’s season of Lent and they worked closely with area churches to invite donations during that time.

When we learned about the simultaneous campaigns, we decided to combine efforts in 2007 and “Help for the Homeless” was born!

"Most of our clients enter our shelter with little more than the clothes they are wearing, and are in dire need of many of the items donated by your listeners. We feel extremely fortunate to be one of the area agencies to benefit so abundantly from their donations to your toiletry Campaign. Thank you!"
Sue Sippel, Director, Domestic Violence Center, Manitowoc

From February 16 to March 13, 2008, donations may be dropped off at Festival Foods Stores in Green Bay, De Pere, Oshkosh, and Appleton, at participating Christian book stores and the studios of Christian Family Radio.  Donation boxes are available upon request for area businesses, schools, churches and organizations.  (Here is a map to Christian Family Radio in PDF format).

Businesses, Schools, Churches and Community Organizations are invited to participate! For a PDF listing of the organizations participating, click here. For more information, call 749-9364 (Fox Cities), 499-9957 (Green Bay) or 800-236-9364. If you would like a full-color poster, here it is as a PDF file. Here is a bulletin insert for your church.

Here are the requested items for donation; remember, please, new, unopened items.
